"Help me... help you. Help me, help you." *

In my last post I talked about how I truly enjoy my career in recruiting.  Today, I'd like to share how I help professionals as a recruiter.

Job Losses, Job Changes, and Relocation are among the top life stressors.  I help people daily with these ordeals.  Often I am the confidant, or sounding board, to professionals as they evaluate their options.

I am here to work with you confidentially with trust, integrity, and honesty.  When we find opportunities that meet your goals, I will present you in a positive and professional manner.   I am here to help prepare you for interviews, including setting them up and getting the details you need to put your best foot forward. I am here to debrief after interviews to insure that the right steps are taken next.  I am here to assist in the offer stage.  I am here to walk you through your resignation process, including tricky counter-offer situations that may arise.  I am here to follow up to insure that your transition is going well once you have joined your new company.

My advice to the professionals I work with is to be clear in communication, clear in your expectations, and timely in your communications with me.  I am committed to be open and honest with you, and it's important that you do the same.  I will bring questions or concerns to your attention, and I ask that you do so as well.  If your interest has changed, please let me know so that we respect the time and energy of everyone involved.  Be candid with me about all the components influencing your decision including other opportunities, changes at your current job, changes in your personal situation, or any other details you need to weigh your values on.

The more I know about you, the higher the probability will be for making the process a win-win for everyone.  My goal is to make sure that everyone leaves with a positive feeling about the process, regardless of the outcome.

Steph’s Takeaways:

* In the words of Jerry Maguire, "Help me, help you."  What a profound statement, in my opinion.  In order to allow someone to help you, it's important to equally embrace clear communication and expectations.
