"Help me... help you. Help me, help you." *

In my last post I talked about how I truly enjoy my career in recruiting.  Today, I'd like to share how I help professionals as a recruiter.

Job Losses, Job Changes, and Relocation are among the top life stressors.  I help people daily with these ordeals.  Often I am the confidant, or sounding board, to professionals as they evaluate their options.

I am here to work with you confidentially with trust, integrity, and honesty.  When we find opportunities that meet your goals, I will present you in a positive and professional manner.   I am here to help prepare you for interviews, including setting them up and getting the details you need to put your best foot forward. I am here to debrief after interviews to insure that the right steps are taken next.  I am here to assist in the offer stage.  I am here to walk you through your resignation process, including tricky counter-offer situations that may arise.  I am here to follow up to insure that your transition is going well once you have joined your new company.

My advice to the professionals I work with is to be clear in communication, clear in your expectations, and timely in your communications with me.  I am committed to be open and honest with you, and it's important that you do the same.  I will bring questions or concerns to your attention, and I ask that you do so as well.  If your interest has changed, please let me know so that we respect the time and energy of everyone involved.  Be candid with me about all the components influencing your decision including other opportunities, changes at your current job, changes in your personal situation, or any other details you need to weigh your values on.

The more I know about you, the higher the probability will be for making the process a win-win for everyone.  My goal is to make sure that everyone leaves with a positive feeling about the process, regardless of the outcome.

Steph’s Takeaways:

* In the words of Jerry Maguire, "Help me, help you."  What a profound statement, in my opinion.  In order to allow someone to help you, it's important to equally embrace clear communication and expectations.

Headhunters, more than a dirty little word...

When I came in to the recruiting industry three years ago I knew I had some skills that would compliment this new world, but I hadn't fully realized how I'd fit in so well.   I am happy to have recently celebrated three years at Principal Resource Group, and I'd like to share a little about what I have learned along the way.

In my career I have always strived to be in a role where I am involved with helping others and/or the environment.  In this role, it's a win-win since I help environmental and engineering professionals and companies grow.  I'm helping people who help clean up the environment and others who maintain our infrastructure, and I couldn't be happier doing so!

When people ask me what I do, I respond that I am a recruiter.  Then they will often ask if that's like a headhunter and I respond yes.   I'd like to add that in this industry one could also see a recruiter as a talent agent, an advisor, a consultant, a friend, a fact-finder, a networker, a career counselor, a professional matchmaker, a prospector, and the list goes on.

What it really comes down to is that I am here to help professionals learn about career opportunities that are the next step for their career progression and to help companies find the right professionals to help contribute to their growth goals.  I strive to be a partner of success and I have fun doing it!

Steph’s Takeaways: Building a relationship with a trusted recruiter just makes dollars and sense.
